Dnevnik – COOPERATION OF STUDENTS FROM NOVI SAD AND OSIJEK

Eco-sculptures in the open air along "Pannonian Peace Trail"

In the coming year students and professors of the Academy of Arts in Novi Sad will participate in the project "Pannonian Art Path -strengthening cooperation and networking of higher education institutions in the field of art and ecology", during which they will work, create and socialize with their colleagues from the Academy of Arts in Osijek. The project is financed by the European Union, through IPA CBC Programme Croatia-Serbia. The results of the project will be land аrt installations, i.e. artistic sculptures and spatial interventions, that will be placed along the existing bike route "Pannonian Peace Trail", which connects Subotica and Osijek.

The idea is to make, at certain points or along the trail, an exhibition in the open air or to organize events that will make this cycling route even more attractive, for locals but also for tourists, said Darko Pecotić from the partner organization "Green Osijek", at the first project press conference, held at the Novi Sad Academy of Arts. Cyclists who ride along the "Pannon Peace Trail,, would have a catalog which informs them where and when they will come across some sort of sculpture in nature, where they could stop, relax and enjoy.

In addition to the selection of participants, forthcoming research field, lectures by experts in land art and environmental workshops at Eco Centre "golden beams,, u Kоpаčkоm ritu, near Osijek. The main part of the project, skulpturе u prirоdi, arise in April next year, when students and professors ri spend two weeks at the designated locations in the municipalities that are on "the road to peace Pannonian” Apatin and Bac in Serbia and herbs and Princes Vineyards in Baranja. Students will use the Scene of natural resources and eco-friendly materials to learn about the value of this form of art, while addressing the preservation of cultural and natural heritage of Vojvodina and Slavonia. As announced at the conference, this time next year we can expect a presentation of results- Dad Project, a tour of the site and the presentation of the catalog with the art program.

Head of the Fine Arts Department at the Osijek Academy Vladimir Frelih said that works of art in nature should not be either too expensive or too complicated, and it is important to have environmental sustainability as the character would last as the local community about them could take care.

One or two of work can be a great and long-lasting, the rest can be a series of smaller events and happenings, and miniature intervention in nature. All of these actions would be taken by the camera and photographed as land art works that are generally have a short life span and whose artistic message lives on through documentation that there – explained Frelih.

Dean of the Novi Sad Academy of Arts Krajišnik said that this institution has for years been cooperating with colleagues in Osijek, in addition to geographical proximity and similar structures Faculty, mitigation and Failure- existence of language barriers.
